Edgy new lifestyle brand to debut in Arizona March 2016
TEMPE, ARIZ. (FEB. 09, 2016) – Moxy Hotels, Marriott International’s provocative new lifestyle brand, will open its first U.S. location in Tempe in March 2016. Launched by Newport Beach-based Twenty Four Seven Hotels, the chic and modern Moxy Tempe will offer the style and spirit of a boutique hotel, at a shockingly affordable price.
Moxy Hotels, which first debuted in Milan in September 2014, is entering the U.S. market in a bold way. Several identified projects are slated for major metropolitan locations following Tempe, including New Orleans, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago. Upcoming international openings include Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Oslo, Aberdeen and London. The brand expects to offer a portfolio of nearly 150 hotels around the world within the next ten years.
“The millennial traveler is becoming one of the largest customer segments for hotels worldwide,” said David Wani, CEO, Twenty Four Seven Hotels. “We are proud to introduce Moxy Hotels to the U.S., which not only caters to this growing demographic of traveler, but also appeals to a more mature guest who is still young-at-heart.”
“We are excited to debut Moxy Hotels in Tempe as we believe that the vibe of the city completely embodies the essence of Moxy – fun, edgy, and social, all with a youthful spirit,” said Vicki Poulos, global brand director, Moxy Hotels.
Moxy Hotels cheekily reinvents the predictable hotel experience to fully embrace today’s millennial mindset and to show the world what “moxie” really means. Opening in the hip city of Tempe known for its crazy ASU college parties, underground art, and epic nightlife, Moxy Tempe will welcome guests with its locally-inspired contemporary design, affordable style and buzzing social scene. Moxy Tempe’s 186 bedrooms will be comfortable, industrial chic and tech savvy with plush platform beds, peg walls for clothing rather than rarely-used closets, motion sensor lighting, 49-inch LED TVs, abundant power and USB outlets, along with furiously fast and free Wi-Fi for ultimate connectivity. Additionally, Moxy Tempe will be the first Marriott brand to use Bluetooth radio frequency identification (RFID) for keyless room entry.
Since today’s traveler spends more time in public spaces, to work and play, Moxy’s living rooms are the energy hubs in all of the brand’s hotels around the globe, and Moxy Tempe is no exception. From the swanky bar offering a signature Moxy cocktail and local beers, grab-and-go bites in the lobby and game tables in The NOW public space, to an interactive digital wall streaming the #athemoxy Instagram feed, Moxy Tempe is all about being inclusive, connected and progressive. Old school record players, vinyl album sets and acoustic guitars will bump music in Moxy King Studios and custom Moxy city cruiser bikes will zip guests around town, but first, let them take a selfie in the photo booth hotel elevators complete with props. The hotel’s lively pool scene and state-of-the-art fitness center will ensure guests will want to ‘brb’ upon checkout.
Moxy Tempe will introduce travelers and locals alike to the Moxy lifestyle with a public grand opening event in April 2016. Unique onsite events and ongoing programming also will be held in Moxy Tempe’s stylish public spaces, setting the vibe for what will soon be the new place to see and be seen.
